While Tovar established a clear lead from the outset and Bress widened her lead as more votes were tallied, Good and Rosso were neck and neck for weeks. Good secured the third seat on the board with only six votes to spare. Since the margin of victory on election night was less than 0.5 percent, the registrar conducted a manual 10 percent recount, which didn’t change the results.

The final election results show Tovar with 9,458 votes, Bress with 8,317, Good with 8,265 and Rosso with 8,259.

“It looks like I didn’t make it,” Rosso said. “I fell six votes short but that’s OK. I’m not going to disengage myself from the schools. I’m sure I’ll find ways to be productive.”
