Despite good times, Mustangs depth a factor in league meet
loss
Gilroy’s Brian Prybil touched the wall in 56.62 seconds in the 100-meter butterfly and Michael Shields clocked a 22.89 in the 50 freestyle to notch Central Coast Section qualifying times on Thursday as the Mustangs took on Alvarez in a league dual meet.

Gilroy fell short 98-62 despite having first-place finishes in nine events.

Aside from Prybil and Shields’ victories in the 100 fly and 50 free, the 200 free relay team of Kooper Knutson, Kyle Collett, Prybil and Shields took first in one minute, 37.32 seconds. The same foursome grabbed first in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:48.31.

In other disciplines, Shields bagged the top spot in the 100 free (51 seconds flat), Knutson’s 2.04.45 in the 200 free lifted him to the top position, Collett finished first in the 200 individual medley (2.14.39) and the 100 backstroke (59.95) and Prybil placed first in the 100 breaststroke with a 59.95.
