School celebrates Catholic Schools Week
St. Mary School, Gilroy, continued its celebration of Catholic Schools Week with an observance of a National Appreciation Day for Catholic Schools.
Representatives of the Veterans of Foreign Wars were at morning assembly to present the colors as students recited the Pledge of Allegiance.
Karen Humber, of Operation Interdependence, talked to the students about the importance of the Valentine’s cards they wrote to the morale of soldiers.
“They love the goodies that are sent, but the first thing the soldiers do is read the card that comes with it,” Humber said.
Catholic Schools Week continues through today with activities scheduled each day.
