Gilroy – Former Mustang Andrea Bunten went the distance in her final college softball game for Canisius, but her Golden Griffins were knocked out of the NCAA Ann Arbor Regional at the University of Michigan last Saturday after a 3-0 loss to North Carolina.
The Griffs had already lost to No. 1 seed Michigan in the double-elimination tournament format and were eliminated by the Tar Heels.
Bunten, who allowed all three runs on six hits and two walks, had five strikeouts in her final game for Canisius, where she went 42-37 for her career. The Gilroy native leaves the program ranked in the Canisius career top five in 12 pitching categories. Her 663 career strikeouts are the most by any Canisius pitcher, and rank fourth-best in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.
