MERCED – The 13-and-under Orchard Valley Chaos came away with
another tournament championship, sweeping the competition at the
Ajax Invitational over the weekend in Merced.
MERCED – The 13-and-under Orchard Valley Chaos came away with another tournament championship, sweeping the competition at the Ajax Invitational over the weekend in Merced.

In Game 1, OV Chaos beat a strong Livermore Elite Team, 1-0. Brianna Bengivengo scored the lone goal of the game on a beautiful left-footed shot that found the corner of the net. Chaos defensive line of Maddie Bohn, Alexandra Osborn, Tayler Sillaci, Allisa Pham and goalie Alejandra Aceves held the Livermore team scoreless.

The Chaos won 3-1 against the CVSA Cyclones in Game 2.

Sandra Ceja, Taylor Dempsey and Tamlin Veryken scored the three Chaos goals. Midfielders, CC Contreras, Rhiannon Holmes, Mikayla Irvin and Bella Apolinar played solid to help to keep the game on the offensive.

Starting goalie Vangie MacNamara played a solid first half.

The Chaos came out on top in a tight 1-0 semifinal match against Ajax United. Ceja scored to put Chaos ahead. The defense held the hard charging Ajax team to a shut out with the aggressive efforts of Kendra Rice and Alexi Slattery.

The championship game featured the Chaos against a tough Turlock Tornado’s team.

The Chaos struck often in a 4-1 win. The Chaos took an early lead on a direct kick that was scored by Osborn.

Minutes later the Tornado’s responded and scored on a penalty kick to tie up the game, only the second goal allowed throughout the entire tournament.

Bengivengo tallied to put Chaos back on top. Karli Juarez scored the next Chaos goal with a header off of a corner kick from Osborn. Ceja put the icing on the cake with the final goal.

Missing from this weekend’s action was injured player, Claire Toy.

The next tournament for Chaos will be the State Cup held at the Morgan Hill Complex on Jan. 23-24.
