Frank Ualat caught a whopper of a fish at San Luis Reservoir on August 5, reeling in a 70.6-pound Striped Bass while standing on the shore. The 45-year-old Gilroy resident said he spent 20 minutes fighting to get the fish out of the water and “realized it was big because I had a big pole and it was bending.” Ualat added that he is currently waiting on a response from the California Department of Fish and Game to see if the catch is a state or possible world record.
