They are back on the West Coast until September, and this will be one of a few appearances in the South Bay before they return to Ireland.
The partners in Four Shillings Short, Aodh Og O’Tuama and Christy Martin, go out on a limb with each show. In a single night the two will use as many as 20 different instruments ranging from a sitar from India to a Renaissance crumhorn.
The group performs traditional Irish tunes, folk ballads, Indian ragas, old-time songs, medieval and Renaissance instrumentals and acappella numbers as well as contemporary folk and original compositions.
The group is originally based out of the Bay Area, but spend most of their time n the road. They have found time, however, to produce several recordings of their original work.
