RMC Engineering, Good Fellas capture league titles
GILROY – RMC Engineering won two games Friday night to take the first-half Men’s D League championship at Christmas Hill Park.

The effort earned RMC Engineering a berth in the Men’s CCC League for the second half. The half opens Monday June 28.

RMC, Team HJ-FX and Dequin’s Auto Body completed the first half with 4-2 records. A blind draw set up a meeting Friday with RMC and Team HJ-FX, with the winner to play Dequin’s for the pennant.

RMC jolted to a 12-1 lead in the third inning and never looked back, rolling to an 18-8 decision over Team HJ-FX.

Albert Tamez cracked a home run and two singles for the Engineers. Anthony Montez provided a single, double and triple, Henry Trujillo and Jesse Becerra three singles apiece for the winners.

Mike Patterson paced the Team HJ-FX offense with two singles and a triple. George Smith drove in three Team HJ-FX runs.

RMC continued its offensive flair in the second contest, defeating Dequin’s Auto Body 17-7.

Extra-base hits by Duke Newton and Al Vegas helped Dequin’s to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning. RMC retaliated with three runs in the first and four in the second. Larry Montez Jr. lined a two-run triple in the opening frame. Anthony Montez broke a 4-4 tie with a three-run home run.

Anthony Montez went 4-for-4 and Trujillo added three singles and scored four Engineer runs.

Pat Braxton went 3-for-3 for Dequin’s Auto Body.

Good Fellas captured the Men’s C League’s first-half title Friday by outlasting Obata Farms 15-6 in tie-breaker action at Christmas Hill.

Johnny Perez hit a run-scoring triple in the first inning as the 6-1 Good Fellas took a 3-1 lead. Ruben Perez highlighted a five-run second for the Fellas with a two-run single.

Kenny Hopf went 4-for-4 with three RBI for the winners. Cameron Bautista and Ralph Martinez each scored three Fellas runs.

Jason Krulee and Jeff Hek each went 3-for-4 for 5-2 Obata Farms.
