FREMONT – The Gilroy Chaos boys 13u travel baseball team posted a 3-1-1 record at the USSSA Fremont Winter Nationals to capture first place in its bracket over the weekend.

The Chaos are ranked third in Region 5 of the USSSA Baseball boys 13u AA division, an area that includes teams in Oregon, Nevada, Arizona and California, coach Jim Reimer said.

The Chaos began the tournament with a 16-10 win over a familiar opponent, Gilroy’s Silicon Valley Glory. They followed that up with 5-5 tie with the Redwood City Rays. The Chaos fought back from a two-run deficit to tie the contest in the final inning. The Chaos wrapped up Day 1 with a 1-1-1 record after dropping its final game of the day.

Two quality wins on Sunday propelled the Chaos to the bracket championship, including a 16-8 rout of the Tracy Outlaws and a much closer affair with the Fremont NorCal Stormz.

After building a seven-run lead, the Chaos had to hold off the Stormz in the last inning to preserve an 8-6 triumph.
