SALINAS – The Gilroy Chaos 10-and-under girls softball team was spooky good, going an undefeated 6-0 at the ASA Annual Halloween Bash on Oct. 24-25 in Salinas.

Because this was a Halloween tournament, coach George Sandoval said his team dressed as the “Super Chaos”, playing that role perfectly.

The offense plated a whopping 55 runs over six games during the weekend tournament, allowing just five runs on defense.

Pitcher Anna Gamboa tossed a no-hitter but walked three batters in the Chaos’ 9-1, Game 1 victory over the Campbell Crush. Pati Soria led the offensive charge with two doubles.

Gamboa, back in the circle for Game 2, upped her performance from the previous game, striking out seven en route to a perfect game as the Chaos defeated the Salinas Storm 9-0. Cynthia Del Real had a two-run home run in the win.

Maria Sandoval picked up where Gamboa left off, hurling her own no-hitter and allowing just one walk with five strike outs in a Chaos 13-0 triumph over the Salinas Comets.

The Chaos again took it to the Comets in Game 4 with a 6-0 win. Michaela Decker had three hits, including two doubles.

Gamboa took to the circle in the semifinals against the Central Valley Freeze and led the Chaos to a 9-0 shutout and a spot in the finals against the Carmel Stingers.

Maddy Cox had three hits in the championship game as the Chaos went on to capture the title 9-4. Soria also added three hits.

Sandoval said that the tournament was the last at the 10-and-under level as the Chaos will move up to play in 12-and-under tournaments.
