games with a narrow 58-52 defeat to St. Francis-Watsonville on
Monday.
GILROY – The Christopher High junior varsity boys basketball team wrapped up a busy five-day span in which they played four games with a narrow 58-52 defeat to St. Francis-Watsonville on Monday.

“It was a physical, defensive battle that could have gone either way with about six minutes left,” head coach Kaden Bahner said.

Sophomore Marcus Harrell led the Cougars with 16 points and Nick Cordova had a strong performance with 12.

The Cougars started the four-game stretch Thursday against Gilroy in the first round of the Bob Hagen Memorial. CHS dropped the decision to the Mustangs, who went on to win the tournament, 51-33.

Andrew Foster led the way with seven points for the Cougars.

CHS got right back on the winning track the following night against Harbor. DJ Campos exploded for 18 points in a 48-34 victory for the Cougars.

The Cougars earned a spot in the consolation game and did not waste the opportunity, beating Sobrato 34-32.

Harrell was the top scorer for the Cougars with eight. Cordova added six, and Patrick Valdez, Peter Hilkene and Scott Rathi each had four points.
