educational and economical programs that can meet this need.

GILROY
– Gilroy Presbyterian Church, 6000 Miller Ave., will offer two sessions of Speed Racer. Preschool through second grades will be held 9 a.m. to noon June 16-20 ($50). Grades three through six will be held 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 23-27 ($55). There will be games, crafts, skits, music and Bible stories. The older students will have additional time to choose activities like soccer, drama and kickball. For information, call (408) 842-3000.
– Gilroy First Baptist Church, 8455 Wren Ave., will host Outrigger Island 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. June 23-27. Kindergartners through sixth-graders are invited to attend at no cost. A Basketball and Cheer Summer Camp, held at Mt. Madonna High School, will be offered 8:30 a.m. to noon July 7 through 11. The $40 fee includes T-shirt, sport water bottle, pompons, snacks and basketball. Registration for both events will be held at a Summer Kickoff 3 to 5 p.m. June 8 at Las Animal Park. – Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1735 Hecker Pass Road, will present Summer Music Camp 9 to 11:30 a.m. Aug. 11 through 15 for children aged 3 and over ($40). HOLLISTER
– Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church will host God’s Big Backyard at the St. Benedict Campus, 1200 Fairview Road. Session one, for ages 4 and 5, will be held 9 a.m. to noon July 15, 16 and 17 ($40). Session two, for grades one through six, will be 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 21-25 ($60). Registration prices rise after July 4. Emphasis will be on seeing the Body of Christ in the people around us. – First Presbyterian Church, 2066 San Benito St., presents Power Lab 9 a.m. to noon July 28 through Aug. 1 ($30 for one student, $55 for 2). Preschoolers through fifth-graders are welcome. – Hollister United Methodist Church will hold its VBS on Aug. 1 and 2 at the San Benito High School track in conjunction with the community’s Relay for Life observance. While their parents are participating in this cancer fund-raiser, children will be provided a safe environment for games, crafts, songs, Bible stories and running activities. – Trinity Lutheran Church, 2300 Airline Highway, is providing Wilderness Trek 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 4 through 8. Kindergartners through seventh-graders will barbecue, pitch tents, do nature hunts and enjoy the outdoors while learning about God. There is no charge to participate, but space is limited. MORGAN HILL
– Advent Lutheran Church, 16870 Murphy Ave., will present for grades K through nine, three sessions of Children’s Music Theater: June 16-21, July 7 through 12, July 14-19. Activities include drama, music, choreography and art, culminating in a full-length musical production each Saturday. Cost is $210 for one child, $190 for two, $150 for three per session.
