City Needs to Crack Down on Slumlords Who Infest Gilroy With Criminals

Dear Editor,

I usually disagree with Daniel Garcia because I think he is a little over the top – and I’m a registered Democrat! I still think he is wrong about a couple of points in his latest letter to the editor. First of all, these folks aren’t bums; they are hard working people who took great risk to come here. Why? Not for the weather, or the local cuisine, but for the jobs. They only want to work and provide for their families, which is natural and proper. I don’t necessarily blame the employers; cause if you’re hungry, you are going to do what it takes to keep the business afloat. Especially, if our government is encouraging undocumented migrations, to appease other nations.

If you want to be angry about blatant disregard for the law for no other reason than to turn a dirty profit, be furious with the slumlords who are operating these disgusting heaps of … sorry, Mr. Garcia, referring to them as landlords is a slap to legitimate landlords.

Landlords provide entry level workers and upcoming families with homes at fair prices. They don’t take advantage of people just because they know they can, like the slumlords operating on the east end of town.

These vermin knowingly pack their dilapidated structures with multiple families with young kids (they sublease floor space to get around the laws). Or worst yet, they knowingly rent to hardcore criminals who harass those who work hard to pay for their housing subsides. This is happening just yards from my place. (Gilroy Police Department give me a call if you want the exact address!) I must add that the police department has been doing everything they can to help us out. But they can only do so much. The city needs to crack down on these shameless slumlords, unless, of course, the city wants to be slumlords, themselves … hmmm.

Trail of Muslim Arrests Completely Counters Columnist’s Argument

Dear Editor,

Since James Fennel responded to Ms. Silva’s opinion regarding the Muslim’s move on San Martin, I would like to give a response to Dina Campeau’s idiotic statement in her column. She writes, “Heck, if all Christians were as Muslim as they were, we’d have a wonderful world. Why would we not want more of this in our midst?”

Well, in the last 10 or 20 years show me one Christian whom after hearing a sermon or homily has gone out and committed violent act against a non-Christian. Here are a few examples that I can give you regarding Muslim men attacking the infidels (non-Muslims) in this country. Most have taken place after a Friday night sermon.

n March 2006: Mohammed Tahri-azar, drove his rented Jeep Cherokee through a crowded college campus plaza. He was charge with nine counts of attempted first-degree murder and nine counts of assault with deadly weapon with the intent to kill.

n July 2006: Naveed Afzal Haq, after holding a 13-year-old girl at a gunpoint, gained access to the Jewish federation of greater Seatle. He shot and killed two and wounded four others (all female Jews).

n August 2006: Omeed Aziz Popal started his killing spree from Fremont to San Francisco by running people down in his car.

n December 2006: 22-year-old Derrick Shareef was arrested for plotting an attack at a Rockford, Illinois shopping mall.

n February 2007: 18-year-old Muslim refugee Sulejmen Talvic killed five people in a crowded shopping mall in Utah.

n June 2007: Suspected Muslim terrorist arrested for plotting to bomb the JFK Airport fuel pipelines.

Would any Christian accept your analysis and the call to become more like Muslims?
