Dear Editor,

“City Staff: Off the Dais” came across as almost petty. Although I haven’t watched a council meeting for a couple of years, I used to watch or attend often. Sometimes I had firsthand knowledge of an agenda item and not infrequently found that one or two council members had not done the homework and were ill informed. I was always grateful to staff for its research, preparation and ability to answer legal and policy issues. The same can be said for the planning commission meetings.

Being a council member or planning commissioner is a part-time job, and sometimes it takes the folks who are working on the issues full-time to redirect the focus.

I say the seating arrangement is appropriate.
