Cleofas J. Barbosa died Friday, Jan. 28, 2005. He was 75.
Born in Jamay, Jalisco, Mexico, Mr. Barbosa emigrated to
California in 1945.

Born in Jamay, Jalisco, Mexico, Mr. Barbosa emigrated to California in 1945.
He was a resident of Gilroy for 45 years. He retired in 1991 from South Valley Disposal & Recycle after more than years. Before that he worked on several ranches throughout the Santa Clara Valley.
He was an avid gardener and on most Sundays he could be seen wearing his straw hat at the local flea markets, rain or shine.
Mr. Barbosa is the beloved husband of Simona C. Barbosa of Gilroy; the loving father to Rosemarie Contreras and husband Anito Jr. of Hollister, Enrique C. Barbosa and wife Christina of Hollister, Yolanda Barbosa Garza and husband Roel of Gilroy, Roberto Barbosa of Gilroy and David Barbosa of Gilroy; the cherished grandfather of eight; great grandfather of five; and brother and uncle to numerous relatives. He also leaves behind his best friend Canuto Perez of Gilroy.
He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Jose Luis Barbosa.
Although he was a man of few words, he was loved by all and will be dearly missed.
A vigil service will be held at 7pm, today, Feb. 1, 2005 at Habing Family Funeral Home, 129 4th St., Gilroy.
A funeral service will be held at 9:30am Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005, at the funeral home, then proceed to St. Mary’s Church, in Gilroy, for a funeral Mass celebration at 10am.
Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Gilroy.
