GILROY – Zach Cobbs went 5-for-5 Friday as Tax Systems improved to 2-0 in the second half of the Men’s D Softball League by outlasting Victoria’s Italian Deli 11-6 at Las Animas Park.
Eddie Cordia hit a solo home run and Jason Kearns reached base five times to help the Victoria’s (2-1) cause.
Feather Haven joined Tax Systems atop the seven-team league at 2-0 by edging Bike Center 12-11 in eight innings.
Bob Reggiani capped a three-run rally in the bottom of the seventh inning with a two-out RBI-single, pulling Feather Haven even at 10-10. Mondo Lerma’s sacrifice fly gave Bike Center (1-2) an 11-10 lead. Jessie Nunes stroked a bases-loaded single to lift Feather Haven to the decision.
John Perez went 4-for-4 and Cesar Vasquez lined a three-run home run as the Bomb Squad squeaked past Los Cochinos 13-12. Felipe Begines homered, Eddie Contreras tripled and Eddie Adame and Steve Aguirre each doubled in a six-run Los Cochinos seventh inning rally.
Hi-Energy Networks is 3-0 in Co-Rec C play Sunday after a 21-9 victory over Anritsu. Len Van Eck, Joe Tovar and Tony Smith each homered for the Networks. Andy Alarcon hit a two-run home run for Anritsu.
James Lopez homered in a 5-for-5 performance to help Out to Play-Pro Electric past Rush Order 18-6. Danny Pequeno hit four doubles and scored three Rush Order runs.
Frank Vargas Taxes moved to 3-0 in Co-Rec B play Sunday with a 12-11 win over RSW Racing.
Paul Garcia doubled and scored on a Monica Pantoja single in the sixth to break an 11-11 tie. KC Adams homered, doubled and singled for the winners. Mario Razo went 3-for-3 with a sacrifice fly for RSW Racing.
Anritsu (3-0) topped Trevino Brothers Construction 18-3 Thursday in Men’s E play. Rahn Crocker went 3-for-3 and George Martinez homered, doubled and singled for the winners. Derek Mercur went 3-for-3 for Trevino Brothers.
The Hit Crew (2-0) used a three-run homer from Marc Vegas to defeat the Assassins 14-5. Scott Mead and Matt Wilkerson hit RBI-doubles for the Assassins.
New Hope Community Church rolled by the Borrachos 26-11 as Steve Eddy (5-for-5) and Ryan Mull (4-for-4) each homered. Ralph Flores hit a two-run Borracho homer.
VFW Bingo (3-0) turned back SVCC Sons of Thunder 18-13 in Men’s EE play. Gary Tognetti hit a three-run homer and two-run triple for Bingo. Brian Miller launched a grand slam and Joe Lopez went 4-for-5 for the Sons of Thunder.
Pug Risner’s two-run homer in the sixth helped the OG’s past Heinzen Manufacturing 10-8. Josh Dias went 4-for-4 for the OG’s. Heinzen’s John Jimenez went 2-for-2.
Good Ole Boys defeated Bad News Block 19-12 as Don Haygood drove in four runs and Bobby Rose three. Block’s Trent Mason and Josh Flores each went 4-for-4.
