Dear Editor:
I want to tell Doug Meier that I envy him his super vision. If
he is able to tell what storefront someone exits from more than a
block away, can he also see around corners?

I own the Aloha Club and if he saw someone exiting the Club at 10 a.m. on a Monday morning, it was not a customer. Monday thru Thursday opening time is noon or later. Perhaps he saw a customer leaving Becerra Barbershop, or Jugos Monte Alban, or someone from La Sierra Paleteria. I’m sure Baha Burger was also open.
Many Gilroy residents have the perception that the area from 7th to 8th Street is dilapidated. But several of the owners have invested a lot of money to improve their properties. I have, Mr. Tomasello has, and now the owner of the building next to Apatzingan Market is also remodeling. Overall, I believe that a lot more owner improvement has been done on this block than any other between 1st and 10th and the improvement started before the streetscape was done.
So, come on down. Get your hair cut, have a fruit drink, a tamale or hamburger. You can wire money, buy insurance, buy your groceries, and yes – you can buy a beer.
Thanks for listening.
