â– No. We will be a bigger city in two years and betting on the economy to get better in order to continue funding these positions is not a responsible decision.
â– Yes. But only under the condition that the positions be temporary and
used exclusively to augment current overtime.
â– Yes. My greatest concern is what happens in two years.
â– I’m glad we’re getting it, but when the 2 years are up, if there are no further grant funds or sufficient city funds, these firefighters will be looking for jobs elsewhere.
â– Yes, but only if the union accepts the position that if the city cannot financially maintain the positions at the end of the two-year period, that they must go away.
â– Yes. As long as they have a solid retention plan for post-funding.
â– If the funding is directed at building or sustaining city services that otherwise would not be in place, then rehiring firefighters to further ensure the community’s safety is money well spent.
â– NO. Two-year, non-repeating federal funding will not fix the bigger retirement funding issues that GFD must solve.
â– Yes. After sitting in the City Council meeting it looks like a win-win situation for both.
â– Yes! Can’t see anything but good from this money. Go for it.
