Letter to the Sports Editor: If I was General Manager of the San Jose Sharks
I didn’t grow up watching hockey. I’m an Ohio born California girl who grew up watching football and boxing for that is what my father watched the most when it came to sports. I never imagined I would ever become a hockey fan. I was 26 when I went to my first hockey game with my boyfriend; now husband who’s the biggest Sharks fan that I know. Being the hockey nut that he is, hockey is often talked about in our home and this evening we had discussion that I thought that I would share.

Gilroy’s newest angel
Caley Camarillo battled cystic fibrosis for nearly 12 years before she passed away June 13 and “earned her wings,” according to family members. Though managing the fatal disease accounted for a majority of her daily routine, she didn’t let it define her and she refused to let her illness crush her positivity—or hamper her smile.
Passport applications by appointment to begin July 1 at Santa Clara County Clerk-Recorder’s Office
The Santa Clara County Clerk-Recorder’s Office has seen a dramatic increase in the number of residents requesting passports. For the first six month of this year, the County Clerk-Recorder has received 8,284 passport applications, an average of 69 per day, compared to 10,386 applications for the entire year in 2013, or 40 per day. The previous year the daily average was 30 applications.
