Ranchers: Rainfall offers ‘glimmer of hope’
Although the weekend storm brought less rain than expected – .35 inches in most parts of Gilroy and Morgan Hill, according to National Weather Service statistics – the recent wet conditions have provided a “glimmer of hope” for area ranchers.
Farm Bureau: More than an inch of rain in some areas so far, more on the way
The Santa Clara Valley Water District’s rain gauge at Uvas Canyon Park measured 1.62 inches of rain in the last week, and the gauge at Loma Prieta hauled in 0.95 inches, according to a report from the Santa Clara County Farm Bureau.

Nonprofits team up to promote agriculture in Coyote Valley
The Santa Clara County Open Space Authority and the nonprofit Sustainable Agriculture Education (SAGE) are teaming up to save portions of the 7,500-acre Coyote Valley from development and foster increased agricultural use for current farmers and a new generation of growers and ranchers, according to a press release from the OSA.
