More than $200,000 worth of renovations to the Mulberry Picnic Area on the park side of Christmas Hill Park are in their final stages as the home of the Gilroy Garlic Festival will soon be flooded with thousands of festival goers.

Heat illness workshop for Chinese farmers
The Bay Area Chrysanthemum Growers Association, in conjunction with the University of California Cooperative Extension Small Farm Program and the Santa Clara County Farm Bureau, will hold a Heat Illness Prevention workshop for Chinese growers Friday in Morgan Hill, according to Farm Bureau Executive Director Jennifer Scheer.
Gilroy’s Laura Wrede publishes first photography book
Gilroy resident Laura Wrede, award-winning writer and photographer, spent more than two years traveling from San Diego to Vancouver, B.C. creating art photography along the shores of the Pacific. “My Ocean,” a compilation of these images, is scheduled for release on Amazon Saturday, July 20.

Guava fruit flies should not affect South County growers, ag commissioner says
