They held it together until the second-to-last song. The a capella voices of 53 chamber singers – a mix of students from the Garlic Capital’s two main high schools – filled the cathedral at Mission San Juan Bautista with sweet harmonies toward the end of what marked the last spring concert for Gilroy’s legendary choir teacher, Phil Robb.

Gilroy’s sales tax was flat in the fourth quarter of 2012 as a direct result of fewer shoppers spending at the Gilroy Outlets. It's the first time in 12 quarters that the City’s sales tax receipts have leveled off.

Illegal gambling operations masquerading as Internet cafes are springing up in storefront strip malls across the state according to the California Bureau of Gambling Control – and Gilroy is no exception.

The local Radiation Detection Company located at 8095 Camino Arroyo in Gilroy has entered into negotiations to purchase a building site in Austin, Texas, according to Vice President Ron Smith. The company intends to move its entire operation to the “Lone Star” state in 2014 because of what it views as an unattractive business climate in California.
