The City of Gilroy will have its regular meeting at 6 p.m. Monday in Council Chambers, 7351 Rosanna St. Here are some of the upcoming items on the agenda.
Library upgrade
City staff is recommending that a custom designed Plexiglas panel barrier be designed and installed along the top of the second floor balcony walls at the new Gilroy Public Library, 350 W. Sixth St. Even though the new Library meets all building codes, library staff would like the extra height for safety purposes. The Plexiglas panels would be designed to complement the present architectural aesthetic, cost $23,690 including installation and be completed within 8-10 weeks. A less expensive option is fitting a brushed stainless pipe rail along the 150 feet of wall on the second floor. That would cost $15,000 and take 4-6 weeks to complete. Funds from the Library Bond issue would be used for either project.
