Dempsey Edward Raby Jr., died of natural causes June 4, 2004, in Modesto.
He was 78.
Born on May 16, 1926 in San Jose, his family later moved to San Martin where he also raised his family. He spent 38 years working for PG&E.
He lived in Twain Harte for the past 29 years.
Mr. Raby was a World War II veteran who served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Roosevelt aircraft carrier. He was a loving husband and father who enjoyed NASCAR and radio-controlled cars and airplanes.
He is survived by his wife, Nadine Raby of Twain Harte; son, Shannon Raby of Coulterville; sister, Deon Trump of Morgan Hill; brother, Leroy Raby of Morgan Hill; grandchildren, Dempsey Shea Raby and Samantha Raby, both of Sacramento; and many nieces, nephews and good friends.
He was preceded in death by son, Allan Raby and daughter, Lourie Denise Raby.
Private services were held in Sonora.
