GILROY – The Desperados turned five consecutive hits into three runs in the bottom of the final inning to steal a 10-9 decision over AJ’s Boys in the Men’s CCC League opener Monday at Christmas Hill Park.
Robert Ramirez singled to ignite the rally, then scored on a Bob Stuve triple to make it a 10-9 game. Ron Erskine followed with a tying double, then moved to third on a Dean Filice single. A Dennis Barroza single to center plated Erskine with the winning run.
Ramirez went 3-for-3 and scored three runs. Matt Piedmont drove in three AJ’s Boys runs with a triple and two singles, while Johnny Perez drive in two AJ’s runs.
Countryside Preschool scored nine runs in the first inning and coasted to a 14-6 victory over Los Gatos Capital in the twinbill opener.
Tim DeCarlo and Louie Aguayo each stroked a two-run single in the Countryside first inning. Brett Scott took game batting honors with a 4-for-4 effort for the winners. Jesse Nunez hit a two-run home run to cap a three-hit night. Kris Ferguson singled and tripled, scoring twice for Countryside.
Stu Kirchick launched a triple and double to spark the Los Gaatos Capital attack. Rob Paterson went 3-for-4.
Chris Hernandez went 4-for-5 with four runs batted in to lead the VFW Vets to a 26-19 Men’s CC League win over Guy’s Heating Monday at Las Animas Park.
Hernandez collected a home run, double and two singles, each hit producing one run. Mark Sotelo delivered two triples and two singles for the VFW Vets.
Guy’s Heating countered with four hits apiece from Jason Trujillo and Art Tomasetti. John Hernandez wewnt 3-for-6 and drove in four Guy’s Heating runs.
The Las Animas Sweepers earned a forfeit victory over Krazy Koyotes-Dutchman’s Pizza in the Men’s CC nightcap.
