Eight-run seventh inning lifts winners into ‘D’ Championship
Series against Los Chilotes
GILROY – The Desperados turned a eight-run seventh inning into a 13-8 win over the Dirty Dozen Sunday night at Las Animas Park to earn a berth in the Men’s D League Championship Series.

The Dozen and the Desperados tied for the second-half D title with 4-2 marks, forcing Sunday’s showdown. The Desperados will face Los Chilotes in the best 2-of-3 post-season.

The Dirty Dozen snapped a 5-5 tie with three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Pete Quintanar, Steven Wooldridge and Art Garcia opened the frame with consecutive singles, each scoring for the 8-5 advantage.

Dean Filice stroked a one-out RBI-single in the Desperados seventh. Bob Stuve provided a score-tying single. Phil Clark and Shawn Lopez bashed consecutive two-out doubles to highlight the Desperados comeback.

Joel Garcia went 4-for-4 and Vince Carrasco and Tony Sarmiento each went 3-for-4 for the Dozen.

Gaeta’s Taqueria scored seven runs in the sixth inning to pull out a 13-8 Co-Rec B League decision over Dee’s Nuts and Cherries.

The win gave Gaeta’s the second-place B League award. Krazy Koyote won the season championship.

Rico Lopez went 2-for-3 and scored twice as Dee’s Nuts and Cherries built an 8-6 lead after five innings. Gaeta’s scored seven runs with two out in the sixth, highlighted by a Jessica Loza triple and home runs from Tomas Carrillo and Matt Piedmont. Cris Adame finished with a homer, triple and two singles for the winners.

Dan Keith Septics completed the Men’s DDLeague regular season with a 7-6 edging of Me & Julio Sunday at Las Animas.

Rob Van Tassel and Rich Furtado each homered for Dan Keith Septics. Darren Newton went 3-for-4 and scored three runs for Me & Julio.
