Salinas man injured in accident

Gilroy – A Salinas man suffered a minor head injury after the pick-up he was riding in struck another vehicle from behind on U.S. 101 Monday morning.

Jerry Moser, 34, was treated at Saint Louise Regional Hospital and released later Monday.

He had been riding northbound on the freeway in a 1989 Dodge Ram, driven by John Moser, also of Salinas, at about 7:50am. The truck was traveling at 60 mph with the flow of traffic, according to the California Highway Patrol. That speed was too fast for the commute conditions, however, and the driver was unable to bring the pickup to a stop when traffic in front of him stopped, the CHP said.

The Dodge rear-ended a 1995 Chevy S-10 that was also heading northbound. Alcohol or drugs did not play a roll in the collision, the CHP said.

The drivers of the two vehicles did not suffer any injuries, although the driver of the Dodge was also transported to Saint Louise as a precaution. He was later released.
