Take out the trash
GILROY – Gilroy Eigleberry Neighborhood Association is sponsoring a barbeque with music and a jumphouse on Saturday. But first everyone must collect trash in the neighborhood by bringing their refuse to the dumpsters. Volunteers are needed to help others carry trash, such as old couches, to the dumpsters. Trash will be collected from 8 to 11 a.m. The barbecue is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Musical entertainment will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Boxer Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero will be signing autographs from noon to 2 p.m. The event will take place at the Veterans’ Hall at Sixth and Eigleberry streets. GILROY – The Rebekah Children’s Services Celebrity Golf Tournament will be held at Eagle Ridge on Monday, June 30, at 1 p.m. The $200 fee includes box lunch, green fees, golf cart, golf shirt, tee bag, refreshments on the course and a chance to golf with several 49er and Raider celebrities. Celebrity host is Tim Harris, former 49er Super Bowl XXIX team player. Proceeds will benefit the “Tech For Kids” program at Rebekah Children’s Services.

To death do they part?
MORGAN HILL – Auditions for the adult cast of “Blithe Spirit” will be held at the South Valley Civic Theatre Warehouse located at 8565 Monterey Road, Gilroy (behind Kelly-Moore Paints) today at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, June 21, at 10 a.m.
The play’s lead character has no peace in his new marriage as his jealously suspicious dead wife has come back to haunt him. Life begins to get difficult when he starts talking to this specter who is visible only to him and the audience.

Ponds on parade
GILROY – Tickets are now on sale for the fifth annual Parade of Ponds. This self-guided tour will be held rain or shine on Saturday, June 21, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday, June 22, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The proceeds will benefit Hospice Caring Project.

Summer theater is groovy
GILROY – Room is still available for children to part-icipate in STAR 2003. “Groovy” is an amazing musical comedy tribute to the ’60s, which will be directed by Pepe Espinosa. This fun-filled summer program is presented by the Gavilan College Theatre Arts program for young people ages 8 to 15. Come and participate Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Partial scholarships are still available for Session 2.

‘I take this man’
GILROY – Pintello Comedy Theater will present “I Take This Man” on Friday and Saturday nights through June 28.
“I Take This Man” stars Kirsten Francis Carr as Giddy Hollis who finds an unconscious man (Jayson Stebbins) at the finish line of the Boston Marathon and takes him home – to marry. Her roommates (Whitney Pintello McClelland and Steve Beck) can’t seem to discourage Giddy’s romantic imagination. The neighborhood policeman (Gary Glasspool) is trying to help, but soon everyone is confused. The starry-eyed Giddy may be headed for trouble or triumph, but there are plenty of laughs along the way.

Looking for 1953 grads
GILROY – The graduating class of 1953 of Gilroy Union High School will host its 50th year class reunion on Sunday, June 29, at the Eagle Ridge Golf Course at 1 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. Kendall Pine will the guests of honor. Tickets are $30 per person.
