South Valley Music Makers meet
Gilroy – South Valley Music Makers begins its third year of musical celebrations Saturday, from 1 to 4pm at the Gilroy United Methodist Church, 7600 Church St.
All interested performers and listeners are welcome to join the friendly group of musicians and music-lovers to share a few hours of good music and good friendship.
Players at all levels of musical advancement may perform in any style and on any instrument, including voice, and listeners are always welcome.

Go fly a kite at Pacheco Park
Gilroy – Experience the color and excitement of Kite Flying on Saturday, and let’s see how many kites we can fly up at Pacheco Pass. The Fifth Annual Family Kite Day will be held at Pacheco State Park, in a big windy field. Action is from 11am to 3pm.
Everyone who flies a kite will receive a souvenir Kite Day button.
There will be other fun activities including a ‘Make Your Own Kite Free’ table and free face painting, as well as Pie Eating Contests, Bubble Gum Blowing Contests, and a ‘candy-drop’ kite.
The only fee is the $5 state park fee per vehicle.

Odyssey auditions for ‘Li’l Abner’
Gilroy – Auditions for Odyssey Theatre Company’s Mainstage Summer Musical “Li’l Abner” will be held June 21 and 22 at 6:30pm at Gilroy High School Theatre. Prepare 16 bars of a song to sing. Bring sheet music in your key. Also be prepare to move/dance. Anyone between the ages of 13 and 99 may audition. Age appropriate casting.
