Bill will help military families with travel

Congressman Richard Pombo (R-Tracy) has introduced a bill to help families of deceased military men and women who have died during active duty service to retain their travel benefits.

Currently, members of the military and their immediate families can travel for free with the Department of Defense if there is space available. Pombo’s bill would allow next of kin of a deceased soldier to travel on military flights if they have another eligible relative who can travel with them. For instance, a grandparent who is a veteran would be considered eligible.
