Gilroy – The Arts in Your Classroom III, a free professional training conference, is offered to teachers in kindergarten through eighth grade.

It takes place from 8:30am to 5pm March 11 at Montalvo Arts Center, Saratoga.

It will provide teachers both introductory and advanced workshops in arts instructional methods, including a guide to standards-based, teacher-friendly and developmentally appropriate arts lessons, as well as curriculum links to core subjects such as language arts and math.

It’s Bach to Blues time in Gilroy

Gilroy – Local musicians and Gavilan College music faculty members will team up with the South Valley Symphony String Quartet to perform the 2005 benefit concert “Bach to Blues,” at 7:30pm Friday at the Gavilan College Theater, 5055 Santa Teresa Blvd.

Tickets are $15 for general seating, $10 for seniors and students and $25 for V.I.P. Tickets are sold online at www.gavilan.edu/bachtoblues and in Gilroy at the Gavilan College Box Office and at all South Valley Symphony outlets, including the Gavilan College Bookstore, The California Music Company, Porcella’s Music and Carole’s Hallmark. In Morgan Hill, tickets are sold at Gavilan College Morgan Hill and The Music Tree. In Hollister, tickets are sold at Gavilan College Hollister and Dorothy McNett’s Place.
