School District Special Meeting
Gilroy – The Gilroy Unified School District board will decide whether to adopt the 2006-2007 budget at a special board meeting tonight at 6pm. Assistant Superintendent Steve Brinkman, who has called the state budget put forth by the governor “the best budget proposal on paper in 20 years,” will review the details of the budget before the board votes.
In addition, the board will take action on the tentative agreement between the Gilroy Teachers’ Association and the district regarding wages, class size and stipends. The district office is located at 7810 Arroyo Circle.
Meeting on Mosquitoes
Gilroy – West Nile Virus infected mosquitoes have been detected in Santa Clara County, Vector Control officials said. Kriss Costa, spokeswoman for the Santa Clara County Vector Control District, said in March that this could be a very serious and long mosquito season. Just recently WNV mosquitoes and birds were found in the area around Prospect Road and Johnson Avenue in San Jose.
A community meeting is planned to bring residents up to speed about WNV in Santa Clara County and on spreading mosquito-killing chemicals if it is deemed necessary. The meeting will take place Wednesday, at 7pm at Lynbrook High School, 1280 Johnson Ave., San Jose.
PCAG meets tonight
San Martin – Perchlorate Community Advisory Group will meet Thursday, June 29, from 7 to 9pm at the San Martin Lion Club Hall, 425 Murphy Ave.

Gilroy – Live Oak Adult Day Services is in need of volunteers who can read in Spanish for our non-English speaking elderly members, or who can provide musical entertainment in Spanish.

Summer concerts
in the park
Gilroy – The city’s Community Services Department presents Summer Concerts in the Park, a series of free concerts, held the 2nd Sunday of each summer month, through Aug. 13.
The event is fun for the entire family. Enjoy a wonderful evening of music in a beautiful outdoor setting. Pack along a picnic dinner, and come help “kick-off” the summer series.

SM Horsemen meet
Gilroy – San Martin Horsemen’s Association will hold it’s next general meeting Friday, July 14, at 7pm at the California Stables.
Sandi Parker will demonstrate the Parelli method of horsemanship, discuss the concept behind the Parelli method, including the 7 games.
SMHA will be barbecuing hamburgers and hot dogs, and requests members to bring a potluck item such as a salad or dessert.
