A ‘perfect’ play

GILROY – Pintello Comedy Theater, 8531 Church St., will present “Nobody’s Perfect,” directed by Rod Pintello, on Fridays and Saturdays, from Jan. 23 to Feb. 21, at 8 p.m.

This comedy is about a single dad who lives with his son and mischievous father. When he wins a contest for his secretly written romance novels at a women-only publishing house, the editor wants to meet “her.”

Bowl for cheerleading

GILROY – The Gilroy High School Competition Cheerleading Team will host a “Bowl-A-Thon,” a fund raiser, on Saturday, Jan. 24, at Gilroy Bowl, 7554 Monterey St., from 7 to 10 p.m. A raffle will be held every hour. The team recently qualified for the Nationals in Orlando, Fla. Lunch and movies

GILROY – The Gilroy Historical Society will hold “A Day at the Movies” on Saturday, Jan. 24, from noon to 3 p.m., at the Methodist Church Social Hall, 7600 Church St. A potluck lunch will be served from noon to 1 p.m., after which a showing of “Know Your City,” a 1931 film of the Gymkhana (rodeo) and segments of films by Justin Byers will be featured. Tryout for the games

GILROY – The Gilroy Little League will hold tryouts on Saturday, Jan. 24, at Las Animas Veterans Park, 400 Mantelli Drive. Walk-in registrations are still being accepted. Details: 848-7390.

GILROY – The Gilroy Hot Shots 14-Under ‘A’ girls fastpitch softball team will be holding a tryout for the 2004 season on Saturday, Jan. 24, at 9:30 a.m. Tryouts will be held at 11465 Monterey Highway in San Martin. Details: Pat Chris at 842-7756.

GILROY – The final Girls Fastpitch Clinic for ages 16U, 14U, 12U and 10U will be Sunday, Jan. 25, at 11:30 a.m. at Christmas Hill Park. The clinics help develop strong fundamentals. Details: Chris at 847-4173.

Feed others and dance

GILROY – St. Joseph’s Family Center and the Strand Theater will hold a food drive on Sunday, Jan. 25. Bring in any canned or non-perishable food item and get in free to dance at the Strand. A live band will play Dixieland music from 1 to 3 p.m. and Swing music from 3 to 5 p.m. Details: David at 842-6662.

Dealer adds Victory line

GILROY – The Indian Motorcycle dealership at 7191 Monterey St. now carries Victory Motorcycles, which arrived at the store Jan. 14 – a sign of Indian’s dwindling prominence in this town. Victory bikes, which compete with Indians for sales, are made in Iowa by the Polaris company.

Join the choir

GILROY – Registration is now open for the Gavilan College Concert Choir, directed by Phillip Robb, which begins its spring semester on Tuesday, Jan. 27. The choir meets every Tuesday evening from 7:30 to 9:45 p.m. at the Gilroy High School choir room and is open to all singers college-age and above. Reading music is helpful, but not required.
