Sale benefits FFA

Gilroy – Gilroy High School’s Future Farmers of America will stage its huge annual plant sale Saturday at 7am in the parking lot of Straw Hat Pizza at 1053 First St. There will be about 1,000 plants for sale. Rogers Seed Co. donated the flowers for the sale.

The money collected from the fundraiser will go toward scholarships for students interested in careers in agriculture and to help pay fees for leadership conferences.

Auditions for Temple of Boom II

Gilroy – John Bisceglie is looking for energetic performers, ages 6 to 25, to be a part of his large scale summer musical extravaganza, “Totally Rockin’ Temple of BOOM! II” performing in August. Auditions will be held Sunday, May 7 at Dutchman’s Pizza, 6940 Chestnut St. in Gilroy. Ages 6 to 10 at 1pm, and ages 11 to 25 at 2:30pm. Please prepare to sing a short song without music.

Nonpartisan voters can choose ballot

Gilroy – The Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters has sent notification to more than 40,000 nonpartisan permanent absentee voters to explain their rights under California’s Modified Closed Primary system for the upcoming June 6 Election. Voters who receive the notice can request a partisan ballot by returning the postage-paid postcard no later than April 28.

Registered voters who have not selected a qualified political party (commonly referred to as Decline-to-State or nonpartisan) can choose to receive either a nonpartisan ballot or a ballot from American Independent Party, Democratic Party or Republican Party.

These parties will allow nonpartisan voters to vote for their candidates in all contests except County Central Committee.

Gilroy Rotary Annual Flower Sale

Gilroy – The Flower Sale will be held April 15, from 8am to 1pm. In conjunction with Goldsmith Seeds, this is an annual fundraiser that takes place each spring.

For the past 35 years, Goldsmith Seeds holds its annual Spring Trials. During these trials, hundreds of new plants are introduced to the nursery/greenhouse industry and thousands are on display.

This year, Goldsmith Seeds will host Fischer USA, another giant in the horticultural industry, at their annual Spring Trials. Together, Goldsmith and Fischer will have thousands of flower varieties on display – some never before seen by the general public.

Craft sharing at the Gilroy Library

Gilroy – Additional dates have been set for the popular Craft Sharing program at the Gilroy Library, 7387 Rosanna St. Drop-in Wednesday, April 12, from 6:30 to 9pm.

Bring your craft tools & supplies. Ages teen through adult only. Gilroy crafter extraordinaire, Cindy Boden, will offer her guidance.

Concert for Two Pianos at Gavilan

Gilroy – Maria Amirkhanian and Andreas Werz will perform a Concert for Two Pianos on Friday, April 21, at 7:30pm at Gavilan College Theater, 5055 Santa Teresa Blvd. Tickets are $10 general admission, $5 students and seniors and can be purchased at Carol’s Hallmark, Porcella’s Music and Gavilan Bookstore.
