• Gilroy – The American Red Cross Blood Services Northern California Region honored a Gilroy woman at their Fifth Annual Sponsor and Volunteer Recognition in Oakland Wednesday.

A dedicated volunteer since 1999, Pat Birchmier started out helping at the donor registration desk at Gilroy community blood drives. She now schedules volunteers for the monthly blood drive held at the First Baptist Church, many of them friends that Birchmier herself recruited years ago.

• Gilroy – Collectors and antique lovers can celebrate Father’s Day at the Annual Father’s Day Antique and Collectibles Street Faire Sunday from 8am to 4pm.
