‘Totally Rockin’

is back

Gilroy – Return to Egypt as John Bisceglie presents his latest musical adventure. This sequel to “Totally Rockin’ Temple of Boom” will once again allow you to discover an elaborate Egyptian temple. Performances are Thursdays through Sundays, Aug. 3 to 20 at 7:30pm. All tickets $12. Bleacher seating available, and pillows and cushions are welcome. Performances held at Christopher Ranch, 305 Bloomfield Ave. Reservations recommended.

Volunteers needed for commission

Gilroy – The Gilroy Youth Commission is looking for volunteers to serve on it’s 11-member board. Any teens, between the ages of 13 and 19 who reside within the Gilroy Unified School District boundaries, are eligible to join.

Application deadline is Aug. 14. Pick up applications at the City of Gilroy Community Services office, 7351 Rosanna Street.

Make August count

Gilroy – Gavilan College will offer three classes in a special online session beginning Monday, Aug. 7. The session is designed for students who want to jump ahead by gaining skills and earning transferable credits during the summer.

Three classes will be offered online only for this session: Web Page Authoring, BASIC Programming and C++ Programming.

Special orientation for Gav students

Gilroy – Students who are new to Gavilan College, and their parents are invited to attend a one-day only Student-Parent Orientation Day. Students will be able to take their Placement/Assessment Tests and attend a New Student Orientation.

Students will receive their test scores the same day, and receive initial advising on course selection.

Parents are invited to attend a session on “What to Expect and How to Support Your Gavilan College Student.” Lunch will be provided. Space is limited. Pre-registration is required. Event held Saturday, Aug. 19, at 5055 Santa Teresa Blvd.

Golf tourney

Gilroy – Gavilan College baseball supporters are hosting an annual golf tournament on Friday, Oct. 14, at the Gilroy Golf Course. The tournament, which features a shotgun start format, begins at noon. The day is topped off with a barbecue dinner. A baseball game pitting alumni against current players is scheduled Saturday, Oct. 15, at the Rams baseball field.

The golf tournament is open to community members as well as alumni, players and boosters. Former players especially are encouraged to register.

Happy Days Car Show

San Martin – SMNA is having their 4th annual Happy Days Car Show Saturday, Aug. 19, from 11am to 5pm at the San Martin Country Park, 13865 Monterey Road. Free parking, food, popcorn and ice cream, raffle/silent auction items, petting zoo, vendors and music of the JJ Hawg and the Usual Suspects. $5 admission. Car registration fee is $35.

Quilters meet Thursday

Morgan Hill – The Piece By Piece Quilters of Morgan Hill will meet Thursday, at the Morgan Hill Presbyterian Church located on the Southeast corner of West Dunne and DeWitt avenues. The Quilters meet from 6:30 to 9pm. The program for the evening is a flea market.
