GILROY – Dirty Dozen stormed past Aladdin Bail Bonds-Carreiro’s Plastering 15-0 Friday to win the Men’s Winter D League title at Las Animas Park.
Rick Salinas went 4-for-4 and Xavier Puente went 3-for-3 as Dirty Dozen completed a two-game sweep of the D playoffs. The Dozen opened the post-season with a 17-8 nod over Countryside Daycare. Mike Gracia, Art Naranjo and Steve Arreaga each went 3-for-3 for the winners. Steve Sorci hit a three-run home run for Countryside.
Talk Alota Ship, the regular-season titlist, lost a 17-7 contest to Aladdin-Carriero’s. Matt Hernandez and Don Hufnagel hit consecutive homers for the winners. Mike Hernandez homered and joined Norm MacVicar at 4-for-4. Rick Hattaway and Anthony Contreras each collected three hits for the Talkers.
Foothills took the Co-Rec Winter D League title Thursday with a 15-6 victory over Rush Order at Las Animas. Annette Romero took team batting honors with two hits for Foothills. Danny Pequeno homered and Jessica Loza went 3-for-3 for Rush Order.
Handmade Healthcare won two games Thursday at Christmas Hill Park to earn the Co-Rec B league playoff crown.
Mike Howe went 5-for-6 and scored four runs as Handmade topped Lopez Vending Machines 12-5. Regular-season champion Gaeta’s Taqueria defeated Feather Haven Mill 10-2 in the opener. Art Del Valle capped a four-hit showing with a two-run Gaeta’s homer.
Handmade erased a 6-4 deficit after four frames with three runs in the fifth on the way to a 10-7 nod over Gaeta’s in the title game. Howe homered among five hits. D.J. Simpson went 3-for-3 and scored three Handmade runs.
