Grab the kids and head over to the Disney on Ice presentation of “Mickey and Minnie’s Magical Journey”. It is delightful, educational and full of clever choreography with all your favorite Disney characters. The costumes are glorious, the music is exhilarating and the special effects are dazzling.
Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy, who host the event, take the kids on an action packed tour of the imagination with vignettes from favorite Disney classics. The audiences traverse the globe joining Lilo and Stitch as they embrace “ohana,” the family spirit of Hawaii. Then they fly away to Never, Never Land with Peter Pan and Tinker Bell and go under the sea with Ariel and Sebastion in the saga of the “Little Mermaid”. Make tracks to the African Pride Lands with Simba and Nala. The scenes are faithfully recreated with all the characters that our kids have come to know and love so well.
Director Jerry Bilik (a staple with Disney On Ice since its inception in 1980 as V.P. of creative development) has been sensitive enough to see the productions through the eyes of creative minds and keeps the show moving at a mind-boggling pace.
Cindy Stuart (a choreographer who has worked with silver medallist Rosalyn Sumners, Nancy Kerrigan, Katarina Witt, two-time national pairs champions Jenni Meno and Todd Sand and world champion Chen Lu) is a true artist who paints smooth, beautiful routines that are more than the usual ice show shtick. Her imaginative presentations keep the attention of 3-year-olds as well as the adults who come to enjoy a unique evening with their children.
The costumes by Arthur Bocca sport everything from nightgowns, grass skirts to fish under water. More than 220 magnificent costumes appear in the extravaganza, and each is true to the character in the design and detail.
The production features a talented cast of outstanding champion skaters from the four corners of the world and music we all know. The production is completed with stunning lighting by Patrick Dierson and scenic designs by Robert Smith. The show does exactly what it’s supposed to do – it gives off a glow of happiness and well being with the possibility of happily ever after.
A fun evening is guaranteed with the Disney On Ice’s production of “Mickey and Minnie’s Magical Journey”. The kids will be elated to see all their animated friends come to life, and the adults will enjoy the sounds, the beauty and the artfulness of the production.
