Seven-run fourth inning leads to 18-14 victory over Chaos
GILROY – Dutchman’s Pizza earned a share of the first-half Women’s C League title Wednesday with an 18-14 victory over Chaos at Gavilan Sports Park.
Dutchman’s joined the M&M’s, a 34-1 winner over the Hpnotiqs, at 5-1. Dutchman’s Pizza will play the M&M’s at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday June 9 at 7:30 p.m. for the first-half pennant.
A seven-run rally in the fourth inning allowed Dutchman’s to erase a 10-7 deficit. Kristen Rennard clubbed a two-run single and scored on a two-run triple by Cheryl Baragona.
Vicki Groppe went 5-for-5, while Mercy Sermeno and Baragona notched three hits apiece. Lee Ann Blean launched a grand slam, Rene Rogers a three-run double for Chaos.
Missy Hice (6-for-6) and Karen Turnland (5-for-6) hit home runs for the M&M’s. Liz Talavera singled home the Hpnotiqs run.
Joanne Fowles went 4-for-4 with three RBI to carry Eugene Marks Tractor Service past Goldsmith Seeds 6-4. Nancy McDonald provided three hits for the winners. Antoinette Bowe and Sally Hernandez hit RBI-singles for the Seeds.
Lorraine Marquez went 4-for-5 to highlight a 21-5 Kay’s Kids victory over the Energizers. Tracy Nelson went 2-for-2 for the Energizers.
Team Talamo Foods and Craig Avila Bail Bonds will compete Tuesday June 8 at 7:30 p.m. at Christmas Hill Park for the Men’s B League first-half title after completing play Tuesday with 5-1 records.
Nine of the 10 Bail Bonds batters managed at least three hits in a 26-1 win over Westwood Barbers. Gabe Ponce went 2-for-2 for the Barbers.
Danny Ramos went 4-for-4 and Abel Jacquez drove in three runs as Team Talamo outlasted Salas Trucking 19-3. Ozzie Martinez went 2-for-3 for the Truckers.
Williams Dental Lab claimed the first-half Women’s B crown with a 19-5 win over Let’s Do This Wednesday at Christmas Hill Park.
Cherie Somavia socked two singles, a double and two triples as Williams finished the half at 5-1. Jodi Mendez and Breana Vasquez each went 2-for-3 and scored two Let’s Do This runs.
Christina Castillo’s two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning lifted Handmade Healthcare past Don’s Vending 5-4. Castillo went 3-for-3 for the 3-3 Healthcare. Kim Lopez, Lydia Cano and Vicki Velasquez managed two hits each for Don’s Vending.
