She was a faithful member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church from 1977 until her death. While attending the church, she was a member of St. Anne’s Guild, and the Altar Guild.

Mrs. Bellairs worked at the Gilroy Senior Center as Activity Coordinator for 15 years, retiring in 1991. She enjoyed her work planning trips and the monthly newsletter, most of all she loved the people, and they loved her.

She, her daughter Carol and her granddaughter, Christina volunteered as docents at the Mission in San Juan Bautista.

For the pleasure of visitors she often played a piano – located in the Zanetta House at the mission. – that came around the Horn in the 1860’s.

Mrs. Bellairs loved flowers and she and her husband owned a flower shop in South Dakota before moving west to Gilroy.

She is the beloved wife of Harold Bellairs, and also survived by daughters, Carol Jeanne Eshom, Susan Ellen Edwards; twin sons, Charles Todd Bellairs and Stephen Kent Bellairs; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. Joyce Hanna of Baltimore, Md. and Ruth Jared of Tonkawa, Okla.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Marcia Ann Bellairs; parents, Vernon Simpson and Elsie Mae Crippen; and her brother James Crippen of Merced.

A memorial service will be held on at 2pm, Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004, at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church located at 651 Broadway, Gilroy.

Flowers will be welcome at the memorial service. If desired, donations may be made to the Gilroy Senior Center or to research for Parkinson’s Disease.
