Teaming up in boys doubles, the pair advanced all the way to the loser’s bracket finals before losing to claim third place at the BVAL finals at Live Oak High.

Liang and Lee had the highest finish of the group of top Mustang players that competed at this week’s league finals.

Head coach Steve Jackson’s team had some success at the finals after a 7-7 regular season record.

“We played very good,” Jackson said. “Overall, it worked out very well for us.”

Among the other Mustang players who competed at the BVAL finals were:

nSenior Jeff Uchida, who lost his opener to Live Oak’s Spencer Lines, then won two straight loser’s bracket matches before falling to Lines again in the loser’s bracket quarters.

nMixed doubles players Zachary Dooley and Alyssa Perez, who won their opener, then lost their next match to fall into the loser’s bracket. The duo won two straight loser’s bracket matches.

nThe mixed doubles team of Kevin Kim and Maria Contreras, and the girls’ doubles team of Mei Liang and Cui Ma. Both teams went winless.
