Q: Why are angels pictured with halos?
Q: Why are angels pictured with halos?

A: Long before the birth of Christ, sun worshipers wore rings of feathers on their heads, presumably to represent rays of sunlight and to identify the wearer with the sun god. It is believed that this led to the idea of depicting divine beings with circles of light about their heads. It is also probable that this led kings and queens to wear crowns.
