Too much ink, move on
“I’m just calling about the article in the paper from Mr. Paul Carrasco, I agree with him. He says stop the whining, enough is enough … and the parents should just move on … it’s not showing a good example to the kids. I agree, thank you.”
“I’m just calling because I read the story about too much ink devoted to the Gilroy High School cheerleaders. I agree, these people need to move on, like if the parents want to go then go like he says. I feel that the Dispatch has devoted too much to this story, we should just move on, thank you.”
Red Phone:
Callers you’re point is heard. Not always getting what you want can, in some way, make you stronger as a result. However working hard for something and speaking out is also notable, until you overwhelm the issue.
Thank you for reading and speaking out, hopefully everyone can try to lead our youth by setting a good example.
firefighters work hard
“In response to Nov. 8 Red Phone, about the Gilroy Fire Department, my advice is if you don’t have nothing better to do than to drive around and find reasons to complain about firefighters – who do a hell of a job, and are about the best government workers in the world – then you should go and get a job.
You should probably try and be a firefighter and go through the training and see what they do. Or, if you don’t have time to do that maybe you should donate your time to someone who is less fortunate and do something positive instead of complaining about some ridiculous warning that it’s a high alert and worry about that.
Maybe you should go and donate some time to the Lord’s Table or go and help out at rest homes instead of complaining about hard-working firefighters who risk their lives for us. In our community we shouldn’t be like that, we should be nothing but thankful and respectful to the fire department.”
Red Phone:
Good caller, our firefighters and all other public service officials do work hard to improve and protect our fine city. Red Phone would like to take this opportunity to extend and extra special thank you to all the good servicemen and women of the community.
Helping out others also is great advice, there are many opportunities in our community where on can help, especially during the holiday season, so take some extra time to lend a hand.
election results coverage?
“I was just wondering why the day after the election the Gilroy Dispatch has all information about Morgan Hill on the front page and there’s nothing in the whole newspaper about who won the Gilroy school board or any of the important issues we voted on.”
Red Phone:
Dear caller, Red Phone hopes your confusion was eventually eased if you happened across a Gilroy Dispatch newsstand. For election results coverage the Dispatch published a Wednesday edition, but because the Morgan Times does not publish Wednesday’s, we took the opportunity to publish Morgan Hill stories in the Dispatch’s that are mailed to Morgan Hill residents and for racks in Morgan Hill. So, essentially, the front page and the back page were different and related to each city. The Morgan Hill Mayor and City Council races, as well as other stories, appeared in the Morgan Hill edition of the Dispatch, and the Gilroy school board race, as well as other stories, appeared in the Gilroy Dispatch.
Red Phone hopes you found the information. You also can check the Web site www.gilroydispatch.com for any previously published story.
