Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, after a lengthy illness.
Frances E. Ortiz, 60, died peacefully at home in Gilroy on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, after a lengthy illness.
She was a native of Madera. Mrs. Ortiz attended Gilroy schools. She worked at Gentry’s for many years before becoming a teacher’s aide in 1980 at Gilroy Unified School District. She retired in 1999.
She was the loving wife of Andrew “Andy” Ortiz, of Gilroy; loving mom of Roxane Ortiz, of Hollister; and Tracy Venezia and her husband, Sal, of Littleton, Colo.; loving grandma of Steven Ortiz-Salas, of Hollister, and Hunter, Tyler and Chase Venezia, of Littleton. She was the dear sister of Donna Ortega of San Jose and Eldon Chappell and his wife, Diana, of Gilroy. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
She was preceded in death by her parents Elvin and Levada Chappell.
Visitation will be Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. with the family present between 3 and 4 p.m. at Habing Family Funeral Home, Gilroy.
