A sex education workshop for teenagers will be held today as part of Santa Clara County’s annual Bi-National Health Week. The workshop will be held at MACSA El Portal Leadership Academy from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m.
The workshop will be broken into four segments and cover sexually transmitted diseases, contraceptives, reproductive systems and anatomy and healthy relationships.
“We’ve been encouraging students to go,” said Gabriela Mendoza, a program specialist for MACSA and facilitator for the session on healthy relationships. “Some of these topics aren’t covered adequately at home or in school. We’re trying to make it a fun, comfortable atmosphere.”
The workshop is free and open to teens between the ages of 13 and 18. The first 40 to arrive will receive a $10 gift card.
