at the age of 81.

Mr. Losada was born and raised in Gilroy and graduated from Gilroy High School in 1941.
He was a World War II Air Force Veteran, who moved back to Gilroy after the war and worked for Montgomery Wards in the men’s clothing department, where he met his future wife, Virginia.
He later built, then moved to his home of 52 years in San Martin. He worked as a construction painter, but his passion was working in his orchard and vegetable garden.
Mr. Losada was a member of St. Catherine’s Church in Morgan Hill, Gilroy Veteran’s of Foreign Wars and Small Towner’s. He was active in high school sports and his love of sports continued throughout his life.
He is the loving father of Judy Thome of Gilroy, Patti Gillette, and her husband, Steve of Portland, Ore., and Lisa Burnell, and her husband, Colby of Morgan Hill; the dear grandfather of Brian and Kevin Thome of Gilroy, Melanie and Michael Gillette of Portland, Ore., and Alex McCreddin of Morgan Hill; and the dearest companion and friend of Johanna Tacci of Morgan Hill. He also is survived by brother and sister in-laws, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by Virginia, his wife of 48 years, in 1995; his parents, Pedro and Lucia Losada, and his brothers, John and Fernie Losada.
A vigil will be held at 7 p.m. today, July 7, 2004 at the Habing Family Funeral Home, Gilroy.
Funeral services will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday, July 8, 2004, at the funeral home, then will proceed to St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, Morgan Hill for Mass at 10 a.m. Entombment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Gilroy.
