Dear Editor,
A big thank you to community members of Gilroy donating more than $1,200 to help the family of U.S. Army Pfc. Danny Perry who is recuperating from wounds suffered when he was hit by a rocket-propelled grenade in Iraq in late February. Pfc. Danny Perry is a 2004 Gilroy High School graduate. He is currently at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, D.C. but will be transferred to the VA Hospital in Palo Alto soon.
You very generously opened your hearts and your wallets at the South Bay Blue Star Mom bake sale held this past Saturday on March 25 outside the Safeway on First Street. Some of you bought baked goods, “Support Our Troop” car magnets or our South Bay Blue Star Mom cookbooks but many of you simply made donations. We were overwhelmed by your generosity. We are all moms who have sons and daughters who are serving or have served in the U.S. military. Our members come from as far north as San Mateo and as far south as Gilroy.
Again, thank you so much Gilroy !
