George Stuart Rader

George Stuart Rader, better known as “Stu”, passed away at his home on Saturday, Aug. 13th, 2011. Stu was born to George and Leola Mae Rader in Eugene, Oregon, on 08/04/38.

He lived the first part of his life in Eugene, and attended Eugene High School, where immediately after he enlisted in the United States Navy to serve his country. He proudly served on the USS Nicholas (DD-449) from 1955 through 1959. Upon completion of his military service he was recruited by IBM who enrolled him in Cerritos college to study in the then-revolutionary study of computer sciences and became a field engineer and advanced to Senior Manager, where his services took him cross country. On one of his job assignments he met bank teller, Barbara Ann Simons, in Los Angeles and after a long courtship they married on May 01/64.

Their first born was Jeff Stuart Rader, in 1966, and 2 ½ years later, they were joined by Bobbi Lynne Rader, in 1969. Work took Stu’s family to countless states but in 1977 they relocated to Gilroy where he remained ever since. After retiring from the world of research and development in home computing, he took to enjoying his home life and traveling with his family.

Stu was an avid fancier of finances and spent his spare time studying and investing in the stock market. He was proud to be a member of The American Legion (Post 217), where he had numerous friends. He also took the greatest of pleasure in taking part of the lives of his grandchildren, Cheyenne Rader, Jordan Silveira, Chumani Rader, Kennedi Silveira, Raegan Silveira, and his one great-grandson, Alex Lermeno.

He is survived bv his wife of 47-years, Barbara Rader, his son Jeff Rader. Jeff’s daughters Cheyenne, and Chumani, the girls’ mother Nani Kukonu and Jeff’s fiancee, Cathy Jones, along with his daughter Bobbi Silveira, her husband Denart, their daughters, Jordan, Kenni, and Raegan, and his great¬grandson Alex, son of Jordan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Audrey and Claudia Rader. He is also survived by his sisters, Diane – and her husband John and Renie, his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Gloria and Gene Hansen and countless nieces and nephews whom he all loved dearly and was fondly referred to as “Unca Stu”.

He left a huge impression on many and will forever be loved and remembered by his family and friends.

A visitation will begin 12 noon followed by funeral services at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, August 23, 2011, at Habing Family Funeral Home, Gilroy.
