Gilroy-based North Coast Medical, a leader in rehabilitation medical care products, made a $25,000 donation to the Warriors Foundation-Freedom Station nonprofit organization.
And that’s just a start, as the company entered into a long-term fundraising program, committing $100,000 over the next four years. Those donations will come out from a percentage of North Coast Medical’s Department of Defense and Veterans Administration sales.
“I had the opportunity to personally visit Warrior Foundation-Freedom Station’s housing facility for injured warriors and it was an unforgettable experience,” said Mark E. Biehl, CEO of North Coast Medical. “You could see firsthand the difference this organization is making for these warriors. Their lives are forever changed as a result of their brave service to our country.”
The Warriors Foundation-Freedom Station plans on using the funds for quality-of-life items and support services for the nation’s military heroes.
“Warrior Foundation-Freedom Station is there to ensure (injured warriors) have a hand up during recovery and successfully transition to civilian life,” Biehl continued. “North Coast Medical is so proud to be able to give back to our military heroes.”
For nearly four decades, North Coast Medical has designed, manufactured and distributed a broad range of industry-leading product lines across a continuum of rehabilitation medical care. A leader in occupational, physical and hand therapy medical markets, NCM services the needs of hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, home health agencies, private practice clinics, pharmacies, resellers and consumers.
“We are deeply grateful for this donation, which will go a very long way towards providing our warriors with the support they need,” said Sandy Lehmkuhler, President, Warrior Foundation-Freedom Station. “We are thrilled (North Coast Medical) shares the same passion and heart for our warriors, and look forward to working together in support of these amazing men and women.”
Since 2004, Warrior Foundation-Freedom Station has provided critical assistance to military men and women who have been injured in Afghanistan and Iraq. From quality-of-life items to numerous support services, the foundation provides critical assistance to warriors and their families during recovery. The organization also provides transitional housing and a supportive recovery environment for injured Marines, Army and Navy as they make the challenging transition from military service to civilian life.
Freedom Station is a 12-unit housing facility where injured warriors reside while they continue to receive medical treatment and prepare for new challenges in the civilian world, ranging from job searches and college entry to monthly budgeting and home buying.
