Jose Hernandez and Jeremy Lucio each went 4-for-4 Thursday as the Clippers topped Humboldt Brewing 23-8. The Clippers moved to 4-0 Friday with a 25-8 decision over Puzzle Systems, the first-half DD League champion. Rich Perez and Doug Cummings hit two-run home runs, while Daniel Vasquez and George Castro each mustered four hits.
The Red Dogz turned two victories into a 2-1 mark and second place in the C League. Oscar Flores homered and George Salgado hit two triples in an 11-4 Dogz nod over Kenko Pipelayers Thursday. The Red Dogz added a 20-5 decision over Humboldt Brewing Friday, sparked by two home runs from Mondo Villarreal.
The VFW Vets are 2-2 after splitting two games. Mark Sotelo went 4-for-4, Jerry Nelson 3-for-3 in a 10-7 Vets win over Puzzle Systems Thursday. Shawn Penzo went 4-for-5 Friday to lead AAA Courier Poor Boys past VFW Vets 17-2.
Machinist Cooperative is 2-0 atop the Men’s DD League after Friday’s 23-12 victory over JR Brewski’s at Christmas Hill Park. Greg Lucio, Eric Noma, Ruben Martinez and Greg Lucio Jr. each stroked four Machinist hits. Walter Margetich went 3-for-3 for the Brew Crew.
Darren Newton went 3-for-3 to spark Me & Julio by Dan Keith Septics 11-7. Randy Newton went 2-for-3 with two RBI for Dan Keith Septics.
Nick Ramos went 3-for-3 to pace Family Affair past Team HJ-FX 6-2. Pedro Ramirez collected two Team HJ-FX hits.
Robert Silvia hit two homers and a double to carry Obata Farms (2-0) past the Playaz 9-6 in Men’s BB League play Friday at Las Animas Park. Daniel DeLeon and John Castro hit homers.
Little Pizzarena scored five runs in the bottom of the final inning to upset Interstate Fence 21-20. Justin Ventura homered in a 4-for-4 night for the winners. Henry Huerta and Anthony Bautista each went 4-for-4.
HMI is 3-0 atop the Men’s EE League after a 28-0 verdict over Associated Concrete Thursday at Christmas Hill. Manny Freitas homered in a 4-hit showing for the winners. Tim Blank and Eric Campean each went 2-for-2 for Associated Concrete.
Frank Perez Jr. went 5-for-5 to highlight a 24-2 VFW Bingo decision over South Valley Newspapers. Dave Steffenson collected two doubles, Jonathan Mixter, Dave Del Villar and Robert Hurtado two singles apiece for the Newsmen.
Joe Duran lined two triples and a single to help the Slammers outlast Radiator Doctor 12-8. Henry Maquinalez Jr. hit a triple and two singles for the Doctor.
The Titans trimmed Pray For Rain 20-17 Thursday to move to 2-0 atop the Men’s E League at Las Animas. Johnny Ramirez hit a home run and four doubles for the Titans, while Vic Vanni managed four hits and Paul Rodriguez homered. Ray Garcia and Javier Armenta each drilled four hits.
St. Mary Men’s Club is 2-0 after a 22-19 edging of Ozzie’s Oddballs. Andrew Lanier went 5-for-5 and Bob Filice and Christian Alonzo each added four hits for St. Mary. Frank Duran, Danny Contreras and Joe Barboa hit homers for the Oddballs.
Joe Lujan collected a home run, double and single in a 12-5 Solid Ground victory over Blackout Window Tinting. Roy Escudero went 4-for-4 for Blackout.
